Hilo Town Treasures, World Botanical Gardens and Waterfalls
This tour will start off at Queen Lili’uokalani Gardens,then exploring the black sand beach in search of Honu, endangered green sea turtles, next onto the gorgeous Hamakua Coast. Beautiful Onomea Bay with option of hiking down to bay. The scenic drive brings us to Honomu Town for food and shopping and then a beautiful rainforest walk at spectacular ‘Akaka Falls!
What to expect
- Visit the most dramatic waterfalls and scenic valleys on the island, Akaka Falls, Boiling Pots, Rainbow Falls, and a couple of “secret” local favorites
- Indulge the senses by visiting Hawaii’s best rated bakery-Big Island Candies, established in 1977 known for their shortbread cookies, made with an array of mouthwatering macadamia nut varieties, that are dipped into chocolate
- Cruise beautiful Onomea Bay scenic drive which ends in Historical Honomu Town
- Explore Queen Liliuokalani Gardens, the largest Japanese oceanfront garden park outside of the country of Japan
- Ending the day strolling through the Pana‘ewa Rainforest Botanical Gardens & Zoo. Pana’ewa was designed as an educational facility with exhibits designed to blend with the existing vegetation. Major emphasis on native flora and fauna with rain forest animals added as an attraction making it a zoo as well. It is the only zoo in the 50 United States located in a tropical rainforest.
